Large companies often have the resources for custom and expensive solutions, but small and medium businesses might find these out of reach. It’s worth noting that although the needs of smaller businesses are generally more modest, the incremental gains achieved through optimizing processes can be significant and can make the difference between driving a business forward or flying blind.
In my experience, it is possible to get 80% of the result with 20% of the effort, and most of the time, that’s already a big improvement. Establishing a solid baseline is key; only after that is in place does it make sense to consider constructing more complex solutions.
Often, reaching that 80% mark simply requires the consistent application of a few affordable tools, some well-thought-out planning, and straightforward yet effective techniques. My go-to tools include Google Sheets (in 2023 they are more relevant than ever), Google Looker Studio (previously Data Studio), Zapier/Integromat, Apps Script, and Python.
